Clos de Tart "La Forge de Tart" 1er Cru Morey St. Denis 2011/16/17
Region: Burgundy
Winery: Domaine du Clos de Tart
Grapes: 100% Pinot Noir
Color: Red
Vintage: 2011
Label   Fact Sheet

Description: "A velvet-textured wine, relatively light because of the vintage, but oh-so tender, the tannins whispering behind the sweet fruits. This is regarded as the second wine of Clos de Tart Grand Cru and shows the same generous, plush character." -Wine Enthusiast Magazine

Publication Score Comments
The Wine Advocate 89 "The 2011 La Forge de Tart has a pretty bouquet with a mixture of red and black fruit that is well-defined, augmented by a hint of bergamot and jasmine tea that join the fray. The palate is quite structured on the entry. It seems rather compact and does not quite have the finesse of the Clos de Tart, though there is plenty of pastille-like red fruit to enjoy on the quite serious finish. Drink now-2016."
Vinous - Antonio Galloni 90 FOR THE 2016 VINTAGE
The 2016 Morey-Saint-Denis 1er Cru La Forge de Tart is also showing well, displaying an attractive bouquet of cherries, dark chocolate and pungent soil tones, followed by a medium to full-bodied, fleshy palate with nice concentration and depth.
Wine Spectator 93 FOR THE 2017 VINTAGE
La Forge de Tart isn't made every year - there was no 2012, 2013 or 2015 - but when it is made, it uses the younger vines planted between 1999 and 2011. For people who can't afford the grand vin, it's a good introduction to the shift in style over the last two or three vintages. It has subtle red fruits, floral top-notes, nicely handled 80% new wood and appealing precision, texture and minerality.
